Post Jobs for Free

Posting jobs for free is an exciting concept when you have a couple hundred positions to fill or you are a small employer with a tight recruiting budget.

Unfortunately, I am a strong believer in the old adage “you get what you pay for” but this does not necessarily mean that you can’t find a quality job board offering free job posting. It just means that you need to be cautious with your expectations and do your due diligence upfront by thoroughly investigating the web site.

Free job post is a popular search term used at Google and pulls up about 210,000,000 results. Post jobs for free pulls up about 254,000,000 and I can assure you that a majority of these results are not individual job sites offering free job posting.

Out of the results above, I would estimate that there are probably several dozen job sites offering employers and recruiters the ability to post jobs for free and I have included what I feel are the top 3 below:

Jobvertise is the first on my list and I have personally used this site in the past. Unfortunately, my experience was not that great as I did not receive any traffic from my job ads.

Regardless, Jobvertise does offer the ability to post jobs for free as they claim. They also offer the ability to “Search 400,000 resumes FREE*” however, you might notice the “*” which means there are some limitations. These limitations are that you can only see resumes that are older than 21 days among a few other limitations and I don’t think there are 400,000 of them.

Overall, I think Jobvertise is worth your time investigating or maybe posting a few jobs just to try it out. Again, beware of lofty expectations upfront and maybe in the end you will be pleasantly surprised.

The second job site I reviewed was JobAdsUSA.com. This employment site allows employers to post unlimited jobs for free as well as receiving targeted resumes absolutely free.

However, when you dig a little deeper you will find that you can post jobs for free but to view resumes you have to purchase a package that starts at $275.00 for 30 days. They state that you can “receive targeted resumes absolutely free” but when you click on the link you are forwarded to ResumeViper.com and I am not quite sure what the connection is between the 2 sites.

Like Jobvertise, I think JobAdsUSA.com has some potential but I definitely think it will be worth your time to do some investigation and post a few test ads just to try them out first.

The last one on my list is craigslist which is not really an employment site, job board or job bank but is really more of a classifieds ads web site with an employment section.

Currently, you are able to post jobs for free in most major cities, however this is changing rapidly as craigslist seems to be changing their pricing structure from “FREE” to $25.00 per posting which when you think about it is really not a bad deal. Especially if you are getting traffic!!

What I really like about craigslist is the simplicity. You simply login to your account, go the state you are recruiting in, click “post to classifieds”, select job and job type and create your ad. The only disadvantage is that every day new ads are posted and each time yours drops down further on the list. The good news is that craigslist does get significant traffic and I believe you will see better results with your job ads.

So in the end I do believe their are some possibilities with free job posting sites. However, I would encourage any employer or recruiter to be weary of relying only on sites offering the ability to post jobs for free and spend some time researching job sites listed anhd reviewed at Post-Jobs-Online.com.

I just wanted to write and let you know that I have had fairly good luck with Craigslist as mentioned above. Thanks for the story.
